Last year, I wrote a short reflection about how our actions shape the outcomes we experience. Since then, I have found even more clarity in that simple truth. What we choose to do, how we choose to respond, and where we choose to focus our energy continue to influence not only our results, but also the people around us. In this piece, I share a deeper lesson I’ve come to understand about staying consistent with the right actions, especially when it’s difficult to see immediate results.
E
ventually, small results began to show. Feedback came in. People responded. The impact became visible. And even before everything fully came together, I realized something more important. The process itself was shaping me. It reminded me that positive action, when done consistently, creates forward motion. It might not always look like it’s working right away, but it always leads somewhere better.
I’ve always believed that our actions are like seeds. We plant them every day through our decisions, our words, and our behavior. Some of those seeds grow right away. Some take time. Some don’t grow at all. But we still get to choose what kind of seeds we’re planting.
We can plant frustration or patience. Criticism or encouragement. Fear or courage. The results will always reflect what we put in.
There will always be distractions, challenges, and situations that try to pull us away from what matters. But that’s where the choice becomes powerful. We can keep planting the right things, even when no one else sees. And with time, we begin to see the results—not just in the outcomes, but in who we become.
If there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that positive action is never wasted. It shapes the direction of our lives and influences those who walk with us. So if you’re not seeing the full picture yet, keep planting. Stay consistent. The results will come.
What small positive action are you choosing to plant today?
